Date: 1 May 2008
An unknown amount of money was taken when a group of men bombed three Automatic Teller Machines (ATM) at a business centre in Mooinooi during the early hours of yesterday (Wednesday) morning.

Supt. Louis Jacobs, North West police spokesperson, told Kormorant that the approximately 10 men in five vehicles arrived at the centre in Mooinooi at around 2:00 on Wednesday morning. “The vehicles they were driving included a BMW, an Opel Cadett, a Volkswagen Jetta and a Volkwagen Fox,” Supt. Jacobs said. According to him the group of heavily armed men overpowered the one security guard on duty at the centre and took his handgun from him.“They bombed three ATMs at the centre. One was a Nedbank machine and the other two were Standard Bank machines. A police vehicle arrived at the centre as the robbers were leaving and they fired shots at the police vehicle. The police vehicle was damaged but luckily the members were not hurt,” Supt. Jacobs said. The robbers fled. He said that all indications are that the robbers did manage to get an unknown amount of money from the machines.
